Rocky Mountain Designworks

Precision digital manufacturing and rapid prototyping for on-demand production of quality parts.

We offer a range of solutions to help you develop effective prototypes, scale up production, and even make custom parts on demand. Eliminate excessively long lead times and get your business back up and running.

Manufacturing Services

Metal 3D Printing

Our metal 3D printing service consists of two different technologies, direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) and metal binder jetting. Both processes are capable of creating fully functional prototypes and production parts in a wide range of materials. The process selected typically depends on the end-use application, desired mechanical properties, and overall budget.

Injection Molding

Injection molding is the most cost-effective way to make plastic parts at scale. This process involves injecting molten plastic into a mold tool and then ejecting the solidified part. This process can be quickly repeated hundreds or even thousands of times, allowing the cost of the mold to be divided among multiple batches, driving down the cost of each unit over time.

Sheet Metal

Flat sheet stock is procured, cut, then formed into its final state through a series of progressive steps. First, the sheet has to be cut, with either a shear, waterjet, laser, plasma, punch press, or any combination to create the profile or blank. Once the blank is produced, the part can then be formed through bending and welded to creating its final shape.

How it works

  1. Send in your file

Simply email us your 3D CAD file, drawings, or ideas to get started.

We accept the following file types:

> SolidWorks (.sldprt)

> STL Files (.stl)

> STEP (.stp)

> ACIS (.sat)

2. Design Analysis is Performed

We will review your drawings and get back to you with a design for manufacturability (DFM) analysis and accurate pricing.

3. Begin Manufacturing

Once the detials are ironed out, you review your quote and place your order, we'll start the manufacturing process.

4. Parts are Shipped!

Our streamlined manufacturing process allows us to produce a variety of parts in a range of different materials to meet your strict needs.

Technical Services

CAD Drafting Service

Do you have parts, drawings, or ideas that you want turned into drawings? Our technical team has a wide range of experience to provide you with top quality drawings including proper GD&T, print dimensions, and drawing notes to help machinists and engineers manufacture parts or develop process that align with the designer’s original vision.

Reverse Engineering Service

Reverse Engineering involves taking existing physical parts and assemblies to create CAD models with detailed drawings. This need typically arises when a company wants to make improvements to an existing outside design or they have insufficient design documentation (CAD or drawings) for current internal designs.
